Phil Collins, Co-founder &CEO of Klotz Media Solutions Klotz Media Solutions, Powering Smarter Broadcasting With a First-Class Honours Degree in Electronics, Phil has dedicated his 50-year professional career to the professional audio industry. He has long focused on professional broadcast audio technology research and development, system architecture design and large-scale broadcast engineering implementation. Having witnessed and deeply participated in the full industry iteration from analog audio to digital audio, and from standalone equipment to networked intelligent audio systems, he is a highly senior technical expert and industry pioneer in the global broadcast audio sector. In the early stage of his career, Phil specialized in professional audio hardware commissioning, signal calibration and system integration technologies. Early positions included working on professional tape recorders (Ferrograph), audio test instrumentation (Wayne Kerr), multi-track recording consoles (Helios) and broadcast audio equipment (Alice). In 1980 he helped set up Clyde Electronics, a subsidiary of Radio Clyde, one of the UK’s most successful commercial radio stations, and four years later led a management buy-out. At Clyde he was responsible for designs of their Beta, Presenter, Prima, Producer and Eclipse series of broadcast mixers, many of which became the mainstay of UK radio broadcasting – both for BBC and commercial operators. While advancing domestic technological research and development, Phil has led the implementation of numerous large-scale international broadcast system integration projects across South East Asia, India and in many parts of Africa. In 2019, aiming to explore next-generation intelligent broadcasting and media audio technologies, he co-founded Klotz Media Solutions with his long-term friend and industry partner Thomas Klotz. The company focuses on high-end broadcast audio technological innovation, networked media system development and the delivery of global audiovisual system solutions, continuously empowering the upgrading and development of the global radio, television and professional audio industry. |
